It is considered an Apu (God), with perpetual snow, it is located southeast of the city of Cusco. It has a height of 6,384 meters above sea level. It is a donor of material and spiritual goods, it welcomes with great love the people who inhabit its picturesque villages on the extensive slopes of the mountain. It is completely visible from the city of Cusco and in the afternoons when the sky is clear, while the king star is on the opposite side, the mountain becomes wonderful and offers us a beautiful show. Sometimes he dresses in gold, in others in pink, blue, green, lilac, with admirable golden tones. The Nevado of Ausangate is related to the myth of the creation of corn, which narrates that this Apu had a daughter, who married a Qolla (inhabitant of the highlands), who ran away taking cattle and corn seeds with her. Surprisingly in his flight, a bird removed the seeds and consequently also snatched the spirit of the corn. For this reason, these grains are not reproduced in the Qolla region, from La Raya (border of the highlands with the Quechua region of Cusco) to the south, instead from La Raya to the north (Cusco), the best and splendid corn is reproduced, especially in the Urubamba valley and other surrounding areas.
