Rainbow Mountain – Palcoyo

In this full day tour, unlike the Vinicunca mountain, the walk to the Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain does not require much physical effort and you can do it easily (1 hour walk), you will appreciate the colorful mountains and you can also visit the stone forest.
Description
The pick up from your hotel will be from 4:30 – 5:00 am. We will travel for approximately 3 hours to the town of Combapata, passing through the towns of Urcos, Cusipata and Checacupe then arrive at the town of Combapata, continue the journey uphill for about 1 hour and 40 minutes along the left bank of the Salka River, we will arrive at the starting point of trekking 4790 meters above sea level to “Wallata Q’asa”. Passing by the Palcoyo community.
From this point we can see the “Warsaqyani” Mountain, there begins our adventure of a walk of 50 minutes approximately to know the hill of colors of “Q’alle Q’alle” and the forest of stones located at 4960masl. The entire hike averages 2 kilometers if you ascend to the forest of stones. After free time in the forest of stones “Yura’q Qaqa” we will descend again to the parking lot, to take our transportation back to Cusipata place where we will have our delicious lunch. Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco arriving at 4:30 – 5:00 pm approximately.

The excursion to the colorful mountain range of Palcoyo takes place in an area with a varying altitude between 4700 m.a.s.l. and 4850 m.a.s.l. It is a zone with a frigid climate, therefore it is required to wear clothes that provide warmth (windbreakers, gloves, hats, etc); it is also advisable to bring snacks that provide energy and calories (chocolates or candies) all this just for a better experience. In addition to a rain coat or jacket, sunglasses and a hat if the day is sunny or rainy.
